MessageGetChar Method (String)

Returns the first character of the value of the field identified by fieldName.

Parameters

fieldName
Type: SystemString
The name of the field.

Return Value

Type: Char
The first character of the value of the field identified by fieldName.
Exceptions
ExceptionCondition
InvalidOperationException If the Message has no Layout, or if the required field is not defined in the Layout of the Message.
Remarks
This method has the same effect as calling GetChar(fieldName, 0).
